Introduction to the Department of Histoembryology and Cell Biology:

The Department of Histoembryology and Cell Biology has established a team that includes national outstanding young scientists, excellent young scientists, young thousand talents, and national "Ten Thousand Plan" leading talents, with 13 full professors, 11 associate professors, and 12 national talents, and 10 provincial and ministerial talents. The department undertakes courses such as Histoembryology, Cell Biology, and Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine, and has won several awards including Guangdong Province first-class courses, Sun Yat-sen University first-class courses, and first prize in teaching achievements. Focusing on major intractable diseases that threaten the health of the Chinese people, with the purpose of replacing and repairing human tissue organ damage or dysfunction, the department carries out research around four main directions: "Stem cell pluripotency and tissue organ regeneration, the development origin and stable maintenance of adult tissue stem cells, the cellular and molecular mechanisms of stem cell therapy, and key scientific issues and product development in tissue engineering". In the past five years, the department has undertaken more than 100 national and provincial and ministerial projects, including national key research and development plans, major and key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, with a total funding of over 200 million yuan.
