Kuang MingDean

Responsible for the administrative work of the college, in charge of the college's development planning and discipline construction, talent team building, medical education, international cooperation and exchange, and financial management.

Kuang Ming, male, a professor, an expert enjoying special government allowances of the State Council, a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, the person in charge of a major project under the 2030 New Generation Artificial Intelligence Major Project of the Ministry of Science and Technology, a young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions in the National "Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talents Project", a member of the 10th National Committee of the China Association for Science and Technology, and a Distinguished Professor of the Pearl River Scholar Program in Guangdong Province. He graduated from the Department of Clinical Medicine of Sun Yat-sen Medical University with a seven-year program in 1998 and obtained his Doctor of Surgery degree from Sun Yat-sen University in 2004. He has been engaged in the clinical and scientific research work on diseases of hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery for more than 20 years and has profound attainments in minimally invasive surgical techniques such as laparoscopy, robotics and ablation. He has successively won the titles of key member of the first "Huang Danian-style Teacher Team" of the Ministry of Education in 2018, "Outstanding Teacher in Guangdong Province" in 2018, and "Outstanding Person in Charge of Excellent Resident Training Base" across the country in 2019. He also won the first and second prizes of the Guangdong Provincial Educational and Teaching Achievement Awards in 2020. The "Virtual Simulation Teaching Project of Surgical Asepsis" he presided over was selected into the first batch of national first-class undergraduate courses. He served as the deputy editor-in-chief of undergraduate planning textbooks during the "13th Five-Year Plan" and "14th Five-Year Plan" periods. In recent years, he has published more than 100 high-quality papers in academic journals such as Ann Oncol, Hepatology, Radiology and Nature's sub-journals. Many of his achievements have been adopted by authoritative international guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of liver cancer. His technological innovation won the "Outstanding Achievement Award", the highest award at the Asian Tumor Ablation Annual Conference in 2017, and the only "Clinical Innovation Gold Award" at the International Interventional Oncology Summit. He served as the Deputy Chief Physician of the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University in December 2006. Since March 2011, he has served as the Director (concurrently) of the Department of Ultrasound Intervention of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. He served as the Vice President of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University in 2014. In January 2017, he also served as the Executive Vice Dean of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine. In July 2021, he was appointed as the Dean of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine.

Hao YajuanSecretary of the Party Committee

Responsible for the work of the Party Committee of the college, in charge of the work related to cadres, organization, publicity, united front, personnel (including retirees), archives, confidentiality, letters and visits, trade unions, the staff and workers' congress, and alumni.

She is fully responsible for the work of the Party Committee of the college and presides over the meetings of the Party Committee. She also serves as the member of the united front. Her main responsibilities include being in charge of the Party building, Party affairs, cadre and ideological and political work, publicity work and united front work of the college, presiding over and participating in the joint meetings of the Party and the administration of the college to discuss and make decisions on major work of the whole college, and handling emergencies properly. Meanwhile, according to the tasks of the Party's work in each period, she publicizes and organizes Party members to study the Party's lines, principles and policies. She understands and grasps the ideological situations of teachers and students inside and outside the Party, puts forward opinions and suggestions on ideological education based on the actual ideological situation of the unit, and makes full use of various media to do a good job in publicity work in multiple forms.
Hao Yajuan, female, graduated from Sun Yat-sen University. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1995 and a Master of Economics degree in 1999. She has worked in Lingnan College and the former School of Engineering successively. She served as the Deputy Director (Deputy Chief) of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange (Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office) in January 2006, the Deputy Director of the Graduate School and the Director of the Graduate Enrollment Office in May 2013, the Director of the Graduate Management Office of the Graduate School in September 2015, the Secretary of the General Party Branch of Boya College in January 2016, and the Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Physics and Astronomy in November 2018. Since January 2024, she has served as the Secretary of the Party Committee of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine.v

Zhou JiaguoVice Dean

In charge of postgraduate education and scientific research work, responsible for the construction of academic atmosphere and the development of teachers, assisting the dean in discipline construction, development planning and counterpart support work, and responsible for contacting the Precision Medicine Center of Sun Yat-sen University.

Zhou Jiaguo, male, a Doctor of Medicine, a professor and a doctoral supervisor. He graduated from Wannan Medical College and obtained his Bachelor's degree in 1994. He obtained his Doctor's degree from Sun Yat-sen University in 2004. From 2007 to 2008, he engaged in postdoctoral research in the United States. In December 2008, he was hired as a professor and a doctoral supervisor in the Department of Pharmacology of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University. He was awarded the title of the author of one of the 100 outstanding doctoral dissertations across the country in 2006. In the same year, he was rated as an outstanding talent in the New Century by the Ministry of Education. He was hired as a Distinguished Professor of the Pearl River Scholar Program in Guangdong Province in 2013, received the funding of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2015, and won the title of the leading scientific and technological innovation talent in the Guangdong Provincial "Special Support Plan" in 2016. He served as the Vice Dean of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University in July 2018.

Deng KaiVice Dean

In charge of laboratory construction, management and safety work, assisting the dean in the construction of key laboratories, the management of scientific research public housing, the construction of discipline platforms, international cooperation and exchange work, the forensic identification center, and financial management.

Deng Kai, male, a Doctor, a professor and a doctoral supervisor. He graduated from Sun Yat-sen University in 2005 and 2008 and obtained his Bachelor's and Master's degrees successively. He obtained his Doctor of Molecular Biology and Genetics degree from the School of Medicine of Johns Hopkins University in the United States in 2014. From 2014 to 2015, he engaged in postdoctoral research at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in the United States. In March 2015, he was hired as a professor and a doctoral supervisor in the Department of Immunology of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University. He served as the Director of the Department of Immunology of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine in November 2018. In November 2019, he served as the Assistant to the Dean of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine. In January 2020, he was appointed as the Vice Dean of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine. He was hired as a Young Scholar under the Reward Program of the Ministry of Education in 2019.

Wang ShuzhenVice Dean

In charge of undergraduate teaching, teaching management of clinical courses, management of clinical internships, construction of clinical bases, teaching management of international students, assisting the dean in undergraduate teaching reform, medical continuing education work, and the exchange and cultivation of undergraduate students. In charge of the Medical Experimental Teaching Center (including the Clinical Skills Center).

Wang Shuzhen, female, a Doctor, a researcher and a member of the China Zhi Gong Party. She graduated from Shaanxi Normal University with a Bachelor's degree in 1994, obtained her Master's degree in Neurophysiology from South China Normal University in 1997, and received her Doctor of Cardiovascular Physiology degree from Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University in 2010. From 1997 to 2016, she worked in the former National Medical Education Research Center of Sun Yat-sen Medical University, the Academic Affairs Office of the former Sun Yat-sen Medical University, the Academic Affairs Office of the North Campus of the former Sun Yat-sen University, and the Medical Academic Affairs Office of Sun Yat-sen University. She successively held the positions of a staff member, a deputy section chief, a section chief, and a deputy director (in March 2011). From 2016 to August 2020, she served as the Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Management Office of the Academic Affairs Department of Sun Yat-sen University. In August 2020, she was appointed as the Vice Dean of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine. She continued to serve as the Vice Dean of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine in July 2021. She has been 坚守医学教育管理岗位,combined management practice to carry out a number of provincial and ministerial level project researches, won 3 national teaching achievement awards and 9 provincial teaching achievement awards, and participated in the compilation work such as the Development Report of Undergraduate Education in Clinical Medicine in China (White Paper). She serves as an editorial board member of the course textbook "Introduction to Clinical Medicine" of the People's Medical Publishing House and the Higher Education Press and teaches this course. She is a member of the Clinical Medicine Professional Certification Working Committee of the Ministry of Education, a member of the Audit and Evaluation Working Committee of the Ministry of Education, the executive director of the National Research Association on Medical Education of Comprehensive Universities, and the deputy secretary-general of the Teaching Guidance Committee for Clinical Medicine Majors of Undergraduate Higher Education Institutions in Guangdong Province.

Qian JunVice Dean

In charge of the work of the South China Biosafety Laboratory.

Qian Jun, male, a Doctor, a professor and a doctoral supervisor, and the Vice Dean of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine. He graduated from Tongji Medical University with a Bachelor's degree in 1993, obtained his Master's and Doctor's degrees from the Academy of Military Medical Sciences. From 1993 to 2019, he was engaged in biosafety research at the Academy of Military Medical Sciences. He was hired as a member of the Biosafety Review Committee for High-level Pathogenic Microorganism Laboratories of the Ministry of Science and Technology, a member of the Biosafety Evaluation Expert Committee for Animal Pathogenic Microorganism Laboratories of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and a member of the Biosafety Evaluation Expert Committee for Pathogenic Microorganism Laboratories of Human Infectious Diseases of the State. He was rated as the "Science and Technology Silver Star" of the General Logistics Department of the People's Liberation Army in 2012, was rated as an outstanding talent in the military in 2018, was introduced as a Class A talent in the "Hundred Talents Program" of Sun Yat-sen University in 2020, was hired as the Director of the Preparatory Office for the Construction of the South China National Biosafety Laboratory, and was hired as the Director of the South China Biosafety Laboratory in 2021.

Wang BinDeputy Secretary of the Party Committee

In charge of the Party building and Party affairs work of the teaching staff, in charge of comprehensive governance and security and protection. Assisting the dean in the college's administration, the management of administrative public housing, and general affairs and logistics. Assisting the Secretary of the Party Committee in the work related to retirees, archives, confidentiality, letters and visits, trade unions, and the staff and workers' congress.

Wang Bin, male, joined the Communist Party of China in September 1997 and is an assistant researcher. He studied in the Department of Pharmacy of Zhejiang Medical University and obtained his Bachelor's degree from 1992 to 1996. From 1996 to 1999, he studied for a postgraduate degree in Pharmaceutical Analysis at the School of Pharmacy of Zhejiang University and obtained his Master's degree. From July 1999 to June 2004, he worked in the Science and Technology Development Department of Sun Yat-sen Medical University (renamed as the Science and Technology Development Center of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine after the merger of the universities) and served as a deputy section chief. From June 2004 to June 2008, he served as the Director of the Office of the School of Basic Medicine and Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine (a full-time position at the section level). From June 2008 to January 2017, he served as the Director of the Office of the Medical Department of Sun Yat-sen University (a full-time position at the deputy department level). In January 2017, he was appointed as the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine and the Chairman of the branch trade union. Since taking office, he has won several honorary titles at the university level, including Outstanding Communist Party Member, Outstanding Party Branch Secretary, and Outstanding Trade Union Worker. In 2011, he was elected as a deputy to the 15th People's Congress of Yuexiu District, Guangzhou City and a member of the Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Health. He has organized the exploration and compilation of the tortuous struggle history, glorious achievements, fine traditions and red genes of the medical disciplines of Sun Yat-sen University. He has edited and co-edited many monographs, including "Historical Review of the Medical Disciplines of Sun Yat-sen University", "The Origin of Western Medicine in Modern China and the Origin of the Medical Disciplines of Sun Yat-sen University", "Great Medical Masters - Eight Professors of Sun Yat-sen Medical University", and "The History of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine".

Chen BaoyuDeputy Secretary of the Party Committee

In charge of students' ideological and political education, students' affairs management (including undergraduate enrollment and enrollment publicity, students' employment and the management of international students), the work of the Communist Youth League, and the work of the Committee for Caring for the Next Generation. Assisting the Secretary of the Party Committee in the work related to alumni.

Chen Baoyu, male, a member of the Communist Party of China and an assistant researcher. He graduated from the School of Life Sciences of Sun Yat-sen University. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in 2009 and a Master of Science degree in 2013. He once went to the First Senior High School in Chengjiang County, Yunnan Province to teach as a volunteer for one year. He has worked in the School of Information Science and Technology of Sun Yat-sen University, the Policy and Regulation Department of the Office of Development Planning, the Department of Party Committee Student Affairs, and the School Trade Union successively. He was seconded to work in the Department of Development Planning of the Ministry of Education for one year. He has won honors such as Outstanding League Member of Guangdong Province and Annual Figure of Sun Yat-sen University Students. The projects he applied for have been rated as the Excellent Project of University Counselors' Work across the country and the Excellent Typical Case of National Consumption Assistance to Help Rural Revitalization. He has participated in many projects at or above the department and bureau level and participated in the compilation of many monographs.

Guo KaihuaAssistant to the Dean

Assisting the college leaders in managing undergraduate teaching and the publicity work for undergraduate enrollment, responsible for the teaching of the intensive basic medicine class, the teaching management of pre-clinical basic medicine courses and the teaching management of the forensic medicine major.

Guo Kaihua, male, a Doctor of Medicine, a professor and a master's supervisor. He graduated from Gannan Medical College and obtained his Bachelor of Medicine degree in 1997. He obtained his Master of Medicine degree from Sun Yat-sen University in 2003 and stayed at the university to teach in the Department of Human Anatomy in the same year. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2010. From March 2013 to July 2014, as a cadre of the 7th batch of cadres sent by the Organization Department of the Communist Party of China to support Tibet, he went to work at Xinjiang Medical University. In June 2015, he was appointed as the Assistant to the Dean of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University.
