Department of Pharmacology and Pathophysiology

The Department of Pharmacology and Pathophysiology adheres to the teaching concept of "students' eagerness for learning" as the guidance, aims to cultivate outstanding medical talents, and strives to build an academic team with an optimized structure, excellent professional skills, and an innovative spirit, and strives to make breakthroughs in high-level talent cultivation and research in pharmacology and pathophysiology. This department has a national key discipline "Pharmacology", and the discipline ranks in the top 0.1% of the ESI world; two national excellent courses "Pathophysiology" and "Pharmacology". In the past 10 years, it has obtained many teaching reform projects in Guangdong Province; edited 3 pharmacology textbooks; and the teaching achievements have successively won the second prize of the National Excellent Teaching Achievement (in 2001) and the first prize of the Guangdong Excellent Teaching Achievement (in 2001 and 2005). The research work in related directions has successively obtained more than 100 grants including "973", "863" projects, key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, national outstanding youth, and special funds for major new drug creation, with a total funding of more than 100 million yuan. More than 300 papers have been published in internationally renowned journals such as Circulation, European Heart Journal, and Science Translational Medicine; and it has won the first prize of the Science and Technology Progress of the State Education Commission, the first prize of the Natural Science of the Ministry of Education, etc.
