On the morning of November 30, the 13th Student Congress and the 19th Postgraduate Congress of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University were successfully held in the Alumni Hall on the North Campus of the Guangzhou Campus. Chen Baoyu and Chen Yanping, Deputy Secretaries of the Party Committee of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine, Ding Xiaoyi, Secretary of the Communist Youth League Committee of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine, and Chen Jintang, Counselor of the 2024 grade, attended this meeting. More than 300 student representatives from all grades participated in the meeting. Members of the presidium of the student union of Guanghua School of Stomatology and School of Public Health attended the meeting as observers.

The 13th Student Congress and the 19th Postgraduate Congress of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University opened. All participants stood up and sang the "National Anthem of the People's Republic of China" together.

Deputy Secretary Chen Yanping extended warm congratulations on the successful convening of the 13th Student Congress and the 19th Postgraduate Congress of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine and delivered a speech. She also placed high expectations on young students and put forward three expectations:
"Firmly uphold ideals and beliefs and inherit the red gene."

Medical students should not only learn professional knowledge but also firmly uphold their ideals and beliefs and keep striving towards the great journey of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

"Cultivate noble virtues and bravely shoulder the heavy responsibilities of the times."

Establish medical ethics and styles, serve the people with benevolence and medical skills, and practice the noble spirit of "revering life, healing the wounded and rescuing the dying, being willing to contribute, and having boundless love" through practical actions.

"Practice the purpose of service and abide by the original aspiration of dedication."

Students should continuously build the student union into a student organization that students can think of, find, and rely on, stimulate the enthusiasm of more students to participate, focus on the development of medical students, and be guided by the needs of students.

At the meeting, all student representatives listened to, deliberated on, and voted on the "Work Report of the 12th Student Union of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University". The student union report comprehensively demonstrated the work achievements and reflections, covering various aspects such as activity organization, work progress, and organizational construction, and also made clear arrangements for future work plans. In the last academic year, the student union of our school carried out a series of "integrating knowledge and practice" red practice activities; improved its work position and served many key tasks of the school and the college; kept in mind the purpose of service and helped students achieve new progress in their all-round growth. It actively played the role of a bridge and bond for teacher-student communication, timely understood, fed back, and helped solve the difficulties and problems faced by students, and enhanced students' sense of belonging, happiness, and security in Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine.

The candidates for members of the presidium of the 13th Student Union of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University made personal statements. In their statements, the candidates elaborated on their election platforms, demonstrated their concepts, and expressed their firm determination to do practical and good things for students. Through the vote of all participants, the presidium of the 13th Student Union of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University was elected. They are (in the order of the number of strokes of their surnames): Tian Juntao, Wu Jiajia, Jiang Jialin.

Subsequently, all student representatives listened to, deliberated on, and voted on the "Work Report of the Postgraduate Union of the 2023 Academic Year". The postgraduate union report comprehensively reviewed the development and achievements of various works around the purpose of "serving students", summarized the gains and experiences of the past year, and looked forward to the work of the next stage.

The candidates for members of the presidium of the 19th Postgraduate Union of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University made personal statements. In their statements, the candidates expressed their concern for postgraduate groups and their willingness to serve, hoping to continuously promote the standardization and scientification of the postgraduate union, continuously optimize organizational construction, and actively carry out academic exchanges and social practice activities. Through the vote of all participants, the presidium of the 19th Postgraduate Union of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University was elected. They are (in the order of the number of strokes of their surnames): Li Xuanyi, Chen Jieyi, Wu Aoxun.

The meeting also commended the outstanding student union departments, heads, and staff of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine, fully affirming and encouraging those students who performed excellently in student work.

Secretary Ding Xiaoyi of the Communist Youth League Committee delivered a concluding speech, expressing gratitude to all the young people who had worked hard and made outstanding contributions to the development of the college, congratulating, affirming, and appreciating the achievements made by everyone, further clarifying the key contents and development directions of the student work of the college, and hoping that the student union of Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine could keep in mind the purpose of serving students wholeheartedly in the new semester, focus on its main responsibilities and tasks, actively play the role of a bridge and bond, and strive to become a student union that truly takes root among students.
