Unit Introduction

Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine of Sun Yat-sen University has a long history. It is the earliest Western medical school in China. Dr. Sun Yat-sen once studied and engaged in revolutionary activities here. The school is located in Yuexiu District, Guangzhou City, adjacent to several high-level directly affiliated hospitals, rich in clinical resources. The school has built an advanced and highly shared medical public technology platform, which comprehensively serves frontier scientific research in medicine and the cultivation of outstanding talents. In the past two years, 5 projects of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars have been cultivated, 6 projects of the national-level young talent program, 2 projects of the Guangdong Outstanding Youth Team Program and 6 projects of the Distinguished Young Scholars Program have been introduced and cultivated. It has undertaken various scientific research projects with a total amount of about 340 million yuan. A number of high-level research results have been published in academic journals such as Nature, Nature Immunology, Nature Cell Biology, Circulation, Cell Metabolism, and Neuron. After years of construction, the scientific research instrument center of the school has been upgraded to a university-level platform, and the hardware level of the platform has been continuously improved, striving to build a highland for scientific and technological innovation. Multiple newly built scientific research buildings on the campus have been put into use one after another, and the experimental space has been greatly expanded. Discipline Status

★ Basic Medicine has entered the second cycle of the "Double First-Class" discipline construction.
★ Basic Medicine has been rated as an A-class discipline in the discipline evaluation.
★ Basic Medicine and Forensic Medicine have been selected into the "Double Ten Thousand Plan" of the Ministry of Education.
★ Basic Medicine has been selected into the first batch of the Strengthening Foundation Plan and the Top-notch Student 2.0 Base of the Ministry of Education.

It has high-level scientific research platforms.

Teaching Staff

The school has eight basic medicine departments, including the Department of Pathogen Biology and Biosafety, the Department of Histology and Embryology and Cell Biology, the Department of Human Anatomy and Physiology, the Department of Pharmacology and Pathophysiology, the Department of Immunology and Microbiology, the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the Department of Genetics and Biomedical Informatics, and the Department of Forensic Medicine. It has gathered a number of high-level teaching staff and research teams, among which 54 people have won national-level talent projects and 73 people have won talent projects at the provincial and ministerial levels.

Recruitment Positions

(1) Tenured Professor (Professor Level II/III Positions):
With profound academic attainments, having achieved landmark major achievements and contributions in talent cultivation or academic research that are recognized both at home and abroad; having important influence and academic status both at home and abroad, and having the ability to lead the discipline to catch up with or lead the international advanced level; having outstanding team leadership and organizational and coordination abilities. The age is generally not more than 50 years old in principle.

(2) Tenured Associate Professor (Professor Level III/IV Positions):
With relatively high academic attainments, having achieved innovative achievements and contributions in talent cultivation or academic research that are widely recognized both at home and abroad; having relatively strong influence and academic status both at home and abroad, and having the ability to maintain the discipline at the advanced level both at home and abroad; becoming an independent academic leader in the discipline field. The age is generally not more than 45 years old in principle.

(3) Pre-tenured Associate Professor (Associate Professor Level I/II Positions):
With relatively strong scientific research and technological innovation abilities, having achieved high-level results in talent cultivation or academic research; having a certain professional influence both at home and abroad; having the potential to become an academic leader or an outstanding scholar in the discipline field. The age is generally not more than 40 years old in principle.

(4) Pre-tenured Assistant Professor (Associate Professor Level II/III Positions):
With broad academic vision, active innovative thinking and solid research foundation; having achieved relatively high-level professional results; having great potential for academic development. The age is generally not more than 35 years old in principle.

Teaching-oriented Faculty (Human Anatomy, Histology and Embryology)

(1) Teaching-oriented Professor:
Should love teaching, have rich teaching experience, have held the position of teaching-oriented associate professor for 5 years, or have held the positions of teaching-oriented associate professor and teaching and research-oriented associate professor for a total of 5 years, have good educational and teaching effects, and have achieved outstanding achievements in educational and teaching reforms, the construction of excellent courses and excellent teaching materials, the construction of teaching teams and the cultivation of young teachers. When introducing teaching-oriented professors from outside the school, the age is generally not more than 50 years old.

(2) Teaching-oriented Associate Professor:
Should love teaching, have relatively rich teaching experience, have held the position of lecturer for 2 years, or have held the positions of lecturer and assistant professor for a total of 2 years, be able to better undertake the teaching of important basic courses or public courses and complete the required teaching workload. Have good achievements in educational and teaching reforms and research. When introducing teaching-oriented associate professors from outside the school, the age is generally not more than 40 years old.

(3) Teaching-oriented Lecturer:
Should have a good educational background, love teaching, have good teaching abilities and be able to undertake the teaching of important basic courses or public courses. When introducing lecturers from outside the school, the age is generally not more than 35 years old.

Postdoctoral Fellows

Domestic and foreign outstanding doctors under the age of 35, who have obtained their doctorates within 3 years, are familiar with the laws of higher education, understand the situation of higher education at home and abroad, have an international academic vision, and have a relatively high academic level and strong scientific research ability. Yat-sen Postdoctoral Program: Meeting the application conditions of scientific research postdoctoral fellows, having a doctorate experience from a world-class university, or the discipline to which the doctorate belongs is recognized as a world-class discipline in the industry. The school provides competitive salary and treatment for "Yat-sen Postdoctoral Fellows", and the employment cost is not less than 500,000 yuan per year.
