From September 25 to 28, 2024, at the "30th International Symposium on Hepatitis C Virus (HCV), Flavivirus and Related Viruses" (HCV-Flavi 2024) held at the University of Oxford in Oxford, the UK, the Poster titled "NSUN6 and its catalyzed m5C modification facilitate the life cycle of dengue virus" reported by Professor Li Yiping from our college won the Best Poster Presentation Award. This research found that the m5C modification of NSUN6 and cellular mRNA promotes the entry, assembly and release of dengue virus (DENV), advancing our understanding of the regulatory mechanism of m5C modification and NSUN6 activity in the life cycle of DENV. This research received strong support from Professor Zhang Rui's team at the School of Life Sciences of Sun Yat-sen University in the analysis of modification sequences. Doctoral students Wu Tiantian (graduated in 2023) and Cao Yong (a doctoral student at the School of Life Sciences) are the co-first authors.
The annual HCV-Flavi International Academic Conference is the most authoritative basic research academic event in the fields of HCV and related flaviviruses. It is renowned worldwide for showcasing outstanding scientific research achievements in these fields. Since 1994, this conference has been held alternately in Europe, North America and Asia/Australia, providing important scientific support for promoting scientific exchanges and cooperation, facilitating scientific discoveries regarding virus replication, pathology and genetics, and for the research and development of antiviral drugs and vaccines to prevent and treat these diseases. In recent years, the scope of this HCV International Academic Conference has expanded to cover a variety of flaviviruses, such as DENV, yellow fever virus, West Nile virus, etc. The conference reflects the latest achievements in basic and applied research in the field of Flaviviridae viruses, as well as the research progress made in antiviral drugs and vaccines. The great success in HCV virology and drug treatment has promoted the basic research on and prevention and control strategies for other viruses in the Flaviviridae family, and has also facilitated cross-research between HCV and other flaviviruses.
Previously, Professor Li Yiping had been invited three times by the conference committee to serve as the moderator of the Virus Replication Section.
