Department of Immunology and Microbiology

The Department of Immunology and Microbiology currently has 16 professors, 7 associate professors, and 2 senior lecturers/assistant professors, including 1 Changjiang Scholar Distinguished Professor, 2 national outstanding youth, and 8 selected national "Four Youth" talents. The main research directions of the department include the development and regulatory mechanism of the immune system, the pathogenic and immune mechanisms of important viruses and bacteria, the tumor immune microenvironment, bacterial resistance, and microbiomics. In the past three years, the department has undertaken national and provincial and ministerial scientific research projects including the National Key Research and Development Program, major projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and major scientific and technological programs in Guangdong Province, and has published a series of original scientific research results with international influence in well-known journals such as Nature, Cell, Nature Immunology, Immunity, and Nature Cell Biology, and has won the first and second prizes of scientific and technological achievements in Guangdong Province. The department offers courses related to immunology and microbiology, edits the national medical planning textbooks "Medical Immunology" and "Medical Microbiology", and has won provincial and school-level teaching achievement awards and the first prize of the National College Student Basic Medicine Competition many times.
