Department of Human Anatomy and Physiology

The Department of Human Anatomy and Physiology has the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Brain Function and Brain Diseases and is the unit where the chairmen of the Guangdong Anatomical Society, Physiological Society, and Neurosciences Society are located. It has a strong teaching staff including outstanding youth, Pearl River scholars, national-level teaching masters, and Baosteel teaching masters. It has achieved outstanding results in the research directions of nervous system diseases, glioma, stem cell research, cardiovascular and renal diseases, etc., and has published many papers in high-level journals such as Cell, Nat Cell Biol, and Cell Metab. It has been authorized 13 invention patents (1 has been transferred), presided over many projects such as national outstanding youth, excellent youth, and key research and development projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and won many provincial and ministerial-level science and technology awards. It has edited many national higher medical planning textbooks, among which "Physiology" (9th edition, People's Medical Publishing House) won the first prize of the first National Excellent Textbook (Higher Education Award). It has many national-level excellent courses and is the construction unit of the "Virtual Teaching and Research Section of Physiology Course" of the Ministry of Education, and has won many national excellent teaching achievement awards.
