Department of Forensic Medicine

The Department of Forensic Medicine is one of the origins of modern forensic medicine education in China and has established the earliest undergraduate - master - doctoral - postdoctoral training system in forensic medicine in China. It has established a national first-class professional construction site in forensic medicine, a national characteristic major, a national forensic appraisal institution, a national off-campus practical education base for college students, a national experimental teaching demonstration center for law, a forensic medicine experimental teaching demonstration center in Guangdong Province, and a forensic medicine translational medicine engineering technology research center in Guangdong Province, as well as other industry-university-research teaching platforms.

Currently, the Department of Forensic Medicine has a high-quality, expert-level teaching, scientific research, and forensic appraisal team, and its research-oriented teaching staff has entered the ranks of provincial teaching teams. There is currently 1 member of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, 1 vice chairman of the Teaching Steering Committee for Forensic Medicine Majors in Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, 2 excellent teachers of Baosteel of the Ministry of Education, 1 young talent of the "Thousand Talents Plan" of the Central Organization Department, 4 talents introduced by the "Hundred Talents Program" of Sun Yat-sen University, and 1 Yixian Outstanding Scholar. There are 3 national forensic appraisal experts and 1 member of the National Criminal Technology Standardization Technical Committee. It is also the unit of the double presidents of the Guangdong Forensic Appraisal Association and the Guangzhou Forensic Appraisal Association. Peng Chong, the former vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, specially inscribed for the forensic major of our university: "Revitalize forensic education and cultivate outstanding talents".
