On the afternoon of November 12th, coinciding with the centennial anniversary of Sun Yat-sen University, alumnus Professor Li Xiaokun, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the president of Wenzhou Medical University, returned to his alma mater and gave a lecture on "Theoretical Innovation and Clinical Translation Research of Cytokine Drugs" in the Xinglin Forum in the reception room for foreign guests on the North Campus. The lecture was chaired by Professor Kuang Ming, the assistant president of Sun Yat-sen University and the dean of Zhongshan School of Medicine.

In the report, Academician Li summarized the biological characteristics of fibroblast growth factors (FGFs), explained the new functions and mechanisms of FGFs in regulating glucose and lipid metabolism, and systematically introduced the innovative work and latest progress of the team in this field on how to solve the problem of drugability of FGFs and the clinical application and development of FGFs drugs. Finally, Academician Li put forward new ideas and strategies on how scientific research promotes the construction of high-level scientific research platforms and talent echelons through interdisciplinary research and promotes people's health and serves local and national economic development.
